Whew! What a day! Twenty-five mirror mounts are built, packed, and shipped, with only the usual amount of frustration; I can’t wait to be done with that batch of knobs and brass, they do not like each other! Still, it feels good to have them off so I don’t have to work over the weekend. I also took advantage of the lovely day to clean the chicken coop, it really needed it. It has been quite a long time since I posted about the chickens, the ladies are outdoing themselves in the egg department (averaging about ten a day!), and Bob is still as mean as ever. Come May we will have been keeping chickens for five years! It is quite amazing how fast time flies by. There are plenty more things I hope to get accomplished this weekend, but for tonight I am going to put up my feet and enjoy a worry-free Friday!

Wednesday (Insert Creative Title Later . . . or Never)
Today the HPB Society finished reading A Town like Alice by Nevil Shute. I have loved this book for many years, and it has gradually worked its way into my #1 favorite book spot. It isn’t a terribly long book, and I would not even say it is the most eloquently written piece of fiction, but it captures all the elements of struggle, survival, love, dreams, and adventure, and wraps it all up into one beautiful story. Anyone who has read it knows what I mean, and if you haven’t, get yourself a copy now!!!
Reading aside, I am also quite happy with the extensive amount of DLC work I was able to get done today, and quite unhappy that I have not added any extra exercise into my day thus far. Maybe I will get in a few sit-ups and modified push-ups (okay girly push-ups -- never had much upper body strength) while we watch a movie tonight. Why wasn't I given a great love of exercising? It would be a nice compliment to my great love of good food!

Fat Tuesday, Lent, and Blogging
Happy Mardi gras! We actually celebrated last night since dad’s Tuesday business trip would have meant a very late dinner. While eating the most amazing pancakes, which through a twist of events have been dubbed Bamcakes (British bacon which tastes like ham mixed into the pancake batter, Bamcakes!), we discussed what to give up for lent. Usually it is something food related, deserts, chocolate, take-out pizza, something like that, but as I went over my diet I realized there really isn’t anything extra to cut out this year since I have already cut out chocolate, and the other items are so rare forty days without them would be a synch. I thought about giving up worrying, but I think I would worry about not worrying and fail in the first two seconds. Instead, I have decided to add something in lue of removing something. I intend to blog every single day of lent. I don’t want to set myself up for failure, so putting up something short or even just a single picture is okay in my little set of rules, but I want to stick with it. I have also added “excising every single” day to my lent list. I am not a big fan of exercising at all, but I know from past experience just a little extra effort every single day (no skipping!) makes a big difference. So, I hope to herald in this Easter as a very fit and faithful blogger!

TGIF
Friday, that wonderful day when you can let your brain slow down and just have fun; fun food, fun films, and fun games. Lately life seems so full of worry and concern, especially regarding the continuing crisis in Ukraine. Keep praying as this new threat unfolds. Pray for the people of Ukraine, and pray for our own country that it will get up and make a stand against this invasion! Remember history? The average American citizen’s daily activities were probably unaffected by Hitler invading Poland in 1939, but it led to one of the greatest wars in history. George Santayana’s famous line, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it," rings in my ears. So my plan is this, remember the past, pray for the future, live in the present, and stand beside the people of Ukraine.

What To Say
After being away from the blog so long (yet again!), I am stumped about where to begin. For now I have made my blog private, whether this is permanent or temporary remains to be seen. I feel a need to draw back and reorganize. I have been doing a ton of cleaning and sorting, it is truly amazing how much stuff we tend to acquire. A lot of stuff has gone into the trash bin, I seriously need to revamp my wardrobe, at least I got rid of the ancient, misshapen, and stained clothing. Lots of things have also made it into the donation boxes or recycle bin; why did I save these magazines again? Anyway, tomorrow begins a new week with new opportunities in it! Maybe I will even get some pictures of Disneyworld up! We had a wonderful time, and I am still dealing with my souvenir sniffles I got at the end of the trip; *sigh* happy memories.
