July Craziness!

July has taken off like a bullet with parties, holidays, birthdays, vacation prep, and all the other tasks that make up this thing called life.  Monday I leave for a five day backpacking trip and I am still trying to tie all the loose preparation ends together into one neat and tidy package.  So bye for now little blog, I am going off the grid for a while.  See you later!

One Of Those Days!

It has been a great day!  Last night I read over an e-mail (forwarded by mom from a local e-mail listing of food/farm related topics) from someone needing a rooster with an eye for the ladies.  Apparently their current rooster was not doing the job so they were wondering if anyone had a spare rooster.  The beauty of this is Runty (who is anything but a runt now) was just put on my short list for being a little too hen crazy, between him and Bob they were too hard on my ladies.  To make a long story short, we took Runty to his new home this evening!  It is a beautiful place out in Penn Valley where he can free range with his new harem.  So, my hens will be back to just one adult rooster, Runty ended up with a new home, and I do not have to add anymore chickens to the freezer.  Yep, this has been a great day!
So long Runty!

4th of July Fun!

This years’ Independence Day was a swimming, barbequing, movie watching, marshmallow roasting, and glow-stick playing day of fun with friends!  The day did have some tragedy in it unfortunately.  I lost two of my chicks to an unknown assailant, I am pretty sure it was a hawk.  I have since moved the chicks down with the rest of flock hoping the larger birds will offer them some protection from predators.  They seem really happy with their move and are not intimidated by their adult counterparts at all.  But the rest of the day was a blast, even with the ridiculously high heat we have been having!  Just a warning I took oodles of pictures, I had a ton of fun using the sports mode on my camera; epic splashes ahead!

Three Hundred and Sixty-Five ~ The Final Moment!

It has arrived!  When I first began this challenge 365 days seemed so far in the future, but now it is staring me in the face.  Throughout the past year I have enjoyed capturing these little moments (though I was not always the one wielding the camera).  I have not always been timely, postdating and predating have helped keep me on track, but I did it!  Admittedly I have replaced some past moments, this little blog is my photo journal and some memories/moments are best forgotten.  What excites me the most about reaching the final capture is being able to start the challenge all over again!  So my dear viewers, I would like to welcome you to another 365 days of captured moments, enjoy!!!
