Last year we decided to add Hanukkah to our list of celebrated holidays, it turned out to be so much fun we plan on repeating it every year. We even added a special item to make it more authentic . . .
We finished off our evening watching “Fiddler on the Roof,” a wonderful film that gives us a glimpse of a time, a lifestyle, and a tradition very different from our own. Happy Hanukkah everyone!
. . . a menorah. |
Eight candles to celebrate the eight days of Hanukkah, plus a ninth to be the attendant. |
It created a beautiful glow. |
We drizzled olive oil over our food to symbolized the oil which burned for eight days in the temple, though it should have burned for only one day. |
We learned to play with the Dreidel last year, but this year it only served as decoration. |
My favorite touch, the star of David. |
Oooo, next year whip up some Hamentashen (sp?) Fun to make cookies... Oh wait, those are for Easter time. Nevermind. :p The menorah is beautiful.
